Drivers with Primero Transport Services Limited, one of the companies operating the Lagos State Bus Rapid Transit, have resumed work following a strike that commenced on Saturday.
The drivers had taken industrial action due to the non-payment of their December salaries.
However, as of Monday morning, the buses were seen back on the road, indicating the resolution of the dispute.
The customer service department of Primero TSL, said on Monday that the issue that led to the strike had been resolved.
“The issue has been resolved and our buses are back on the road this morning,” the customer service department wrote.
Speaking with The PUNCH in a telephone interview, however, the Head, Corporate Communications, Primero TSL, Mutiu Yekeen, said the company prioritises its drivers’ welfare.
“We prioritise the welfare of our drivers. You need to understand that they are always being paid first before any other members of staff in the organisation.
“So, their salary and welfare are being prioritised. Apart from being paid their salary, they have allowances that they get. And those who perform outstandingly among the busmen, the drivers, are being given a reward monthly,” Yekeen said.
