The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) on Wednesday approved the appointment of an ex-lawmaker, Adepoju Adeyemi as the new postmaster general of the Nigeria Postal Service.
According to The PUNCH, this was obtained from a press statement issued by the spokesperson to the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Uwa Suleiman.
Adeyemi’s appointment was based on the recommendation of the Federal Minister of Communications and Digital Economy of Nigeria, Isa Pantami, according to reports.
The statement read in part, “The new Postmaster General of NIPOST, Hon. Adepoju Adeyemi Sunday, is appointed for an initial term of five years.”
The statement added that Adepoju is a professional accountant and a former member of the Federal House of Representatives from 2011 – 2015 and 2015 – 2019, representing Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency.
It was previously reported that Bulus Yakubu had been appointed as acting Postmaster General of the Federation and CEO of NIPOST by the Federal Government with the approval of the Communications Minister.
This came after Dr. Ismail Adewusi, who was appointed in 2019, was suspended.
