The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Tuesday requested the Senate to confirm the appointment of the former Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase (retd.) as the new Chairman of the Police Service Commission.
The President stated that the appointment is in compliance with section 154 (1) of the 1999 Constitution as amended in a letter that was read in plenary on Tuesday by the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan.
If ratified by the Senate, Arase will take over as substantive Chairman of the Police Service Commission from Musiliu Smith, the former Chairman of the Commission.
