Former President Muhammadu Buhari has conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the government and residents of Borno State, as well as other states impacted by severe flooding resulting from prolonged rainfall.
In a statement released through his spokesperson, Garba Shehu, Buhari described the disaster as a “national calamity,” highlighting the gravity of the situation.
The floods, which have affected multiple regions, have led to the destruction of homes, vast stretches of farmland, and, tragically, the loss of numerous lives.
The former president expressed his sorrow over the extensive damage and urged for continued relief efforts.
He emphasized the need for urgent interventions by federal and state authorities to provide much-needed support to displaced families and farmers who have seen their livelihoods washed away.
Buhari remains hopeful that the steps taken by both the national and state governments will bring some level of comfort to the victims, helping them rebuild and regain a sense of normalcy after the disaster.
“My thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by this natural disaster,” said Buhari, reiterating his deep concern for the well-being of those who have suffered during this devastating period.
