Hoffenheim’s Jacob Bruun Larsen delivered a dramatic equalizer against his former club Borussia Dortmund, scoring in stoppage time to secure a 1-1 draw on Sunday.
This result pushed Dortmund down to eighth place in the Bundesliga standings.
Bruun Larsen’s late strike dashed the celebrations at Signal Iduna Park, as he slid in to score during the dying moments of the match.
Earlier, Gio Reyna had given Dortmund the lead just after halftime, capitalizing on a poor clearance to fire a powerful shot into the net from the edge of the box.
Despite a challenging start to the game, Dortmund began to assert control, buoyed by the return of Karim Adeyemi from injury and Nico Schlotterbeck’s recovery from a midweek ankle issue.
Reyna’s goal seemed to put them on course for a victory. However, the hosts struggled to withstand Hoffenheim’s relentless late pressure, which eventually paid off with Bruun Larsen’s equalizer.
The result capped a difficult week for Dortmund, following their 3-2 Champions League defeat to Barcelona.
They now sit in eighth place with 22 points, while Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich, who were beaten 2-1 by Mainz 05 on Saturday, remain at the top with 33 points. Hoffenheim, meanwhile, climbed to 14th with 14 points.
