American celebrity couple, Chance The Rapper and his wife, Kirsten Corley announced that they will part ways after five years of marriage.
The couple announced this in a joint statement shared via the rapper’s Instagram account on Wednesday, noting that they arrived at the decision after a period of separation.
The announcement follows a year of speculation surrounding their potential marriage troubles after the artist was recorded in April 2023 dancing with another woman at his birthday celebration in Jamaica.
He posted a Bill Burr stand-up clip about the difficulties of marriage to his Instagram story in response, while Corley posted a Maya Angelou quote that read, “Most people don’t grow up. It’s too damn difficult.”
According to the statement, they will take joint legal custody of their daughters.
“After a period of separation, the two of us have arrived at the decision to part ways. We came to this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together.
“God has blessed us with two beautiful daughters who we will continue to raise together,” the statement partly read.
The couple welcomed their first child together, Kensil, in 2015 when they were still dating.
They broke up in 2016 but reconciled in 2018 and got married in March 2019.
In September 2019, they announced that they had welcomed their second daughter named Marli.
