The Nigeria Police Force said it planned to invite and interrogate Grammy award-winning artiste, Damini Ogulu, aka Burna Boy, over the recent shootings at club Cubana last Wednesday.
Confirming that due investigations are underway over the shooting by a policeman assigned to the artiste at a club, the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the Force will interrogate Burna Boy in order to have a detailed investigation.
The names of those allegedly shot in the incident are: Irebami Lawrence and another fun seeker identified simply as Tolu.
Reports have it that the singer made a derogatory remark at Lawrence’s wife, which caused the shootings.
Responding to a Twitter query about inviting the self-acclaimed African Giant, Adejobi said, “Exactly what we will do. But there is no how the police want to have a detailed investigation without interrogating Burna Boy. No way.
“So the level of involvement of everyone in the incident will determine his punishment or otherwise. We should not pre-empt what the report will reveal.”
In another tweet, the PPRO said the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, has ordered an investigation into the ugly incident at the club.
Punch Metro reports that the police operative involved in the shooting has been arrested last Wednesday and is currently being interrogated.
“The Police personnel alleged and identified in the shooting incident at Club Cubana in Victoria Island, Lagos on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, have been taken into custody and are being investigated for their involvement in the incident,” Adejobi said on Monday.
Adejobi added that the IGP “condemned, in the strongest terms, the unfortunate incident” and consequently the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Abiodun Alabi, “to carry out a thorough investigation into the matter and forward his report as urgent as possible for further action.”
