The earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria a few days ago has thrown survivors into desperation.
As rescue team continue to scramble the rubble, death toll is said to have risen over 20,000 on Thursday.
Thousands of survivors have been rendered homeless and left to suffer cold and hunger.
According to Reuters, the death toll across both countries has now surpassed the 17,000 killed in 1999 when a similarly powerful quake hit northwest Turkey.
A Turkish official said that the disaster has brought serious challenge especially to the election slated for May 14 in which President Tayyip Erdogan is expected to face the toughest challenge in his two decades in power.
It is believed that with the slow delivery of aid, it may have a way of affecting the election if not properly managed.
