Popular Nigerian content creator Mark Angel has opened up about a turbulent 2024, marked by financial struggles, personal challenges, and eventual spiritual growth.
In an Instagram post on Sunday, Angel disclosed that he lost $3.7 million in forex trading, a setback that left him in significant debt and forced him to part with his properties.
The financial blow, he revealed, led him into one of the darkest periods of his life, where he grappled with hopelessness and even contemplated ending it all.
“I trusted the wrong people in forex trading and lost all my money. Nobody knew except my family and closest circle,” he wrote. “The weight of the loss was suffocating. I was drowning in debts, and one by one, I watched all my properties slip into the hands of loan sharks. It felt like my world was crumbling.”
Amid the financial turmoil, Angel shared how the unwavering support of his family, friends, and faith community helped him through the crisis. He expressed gratitude to his daughters, ex-wife, and pastor for standing by him during the challenging period.
“My daughters, Victoria and Mila, reminded me of the beauty of life, even when it felt unbearable. My ex-wife, Mandy, extended a hand of kindness I will never forget. My pastor and his wife prayed for me and guided me through this storm,” he stated.
While undergoing therapy to cope with the emotional toll of his financial struggles, Angel faced another challenge in the form of a career-threatening scandal. The incident exposed disloyalty within his inner circle, but Angel saw it as an opportunity to reevaluate his relationships and priorities.
“Life dealt another blow, shaking the foundation of my career and questioning the loyalty of those around me,” he revealed. “It was in that storm that God began to uncover the truth, exposing fake friends and pretenders. It was painful but necessary.”
Despite the hardships, Angel described 2024 as a transformative year that brought him closer to God and taught him invaluable lessons about resilience, faith, and grace.
“Through the ashes, He taught me resilience, faith, and the true meaning of grace. I don’t take it for granted that I’m alive today,” Angel reflected. “If 2024 taught me anything, it’s that even in the darkest valleys, His light never stops shining.”
The content creator credited his survival and recovery to divine intervention, as well as the love and support from his family, including his son, Schoolboy, and his social media assistant, Bright.
“Here’s to God’s unwavering faithfulness,” he concluded.
