Panathinaikos delivered a dazzling performance against Dinamo Minsk on Thursday, securing a commanding 4-0 victory at the Olympic Stadium in Athens to advance to the Conference League playoffs.
Before this match, the Athens powerhouse had struggled to find the net consistently, managing only one goal per game on average in the Super League.
However, their attacking prowess was on full display this time, showcasing an exceptional level of efficiency.
Dinamo Minsk, hailing from Belarus, proved a challenging opponent with opportunities of their own, but Panathinaikos rose to the occasion, thrilling the 35,000 fans in attendance with an unstoppable display.
The breakthrough came just over 30 minutes into the game. Azzedine Ounahi delivered a precise pass to Giannis Kotsiras on the right wing, who then whipped a cross into the box.
Alexander Jeremejeff capitalized with a deft flick, putting the hosts ahead.
Ounahi was instrumental again early in the second half. In the 54th minute, his clever through-ball found Brazilian forward Tete, who coolly finished to double Panathinaikos’ lead.
The trio of Tete, Ounahi, and Jeremejeff struck again ten minutes later. Their seamless combination play set Tete up for his second goal of the night, bringing the tally to three.
Although Tete missed a chance to complete his hat trick when his penalty was saved by Fedor Lapoukhov in the 83rd minute, Greece international Fotis Ioannidis ensured a spectacular finish.
Moments later, Ioannidis stole the ball with a stunning ankle flick and executed an elegant lob over the Dinamo goalkeeper, sealing the emphatic win.
The draw for the upcoming playoff round, featuring home-and-away fixtures, is scheduled for Friday.
