Napoli has announced the appointment of Antonio Conte as manager, signing him until 2027. Conte returns from a one-year hiatus after leaving Tottenham.
He inherits a Napoli team that finished 10th last season, failing to defend their 2022-23 title.
“I can promise one thing: I will do my utmost for the growth of the team and the club,” Conte stated. “My commitment, along with my staff, will be total.”
Conte, 54, brings a wealth of Serie A experience, having won four league titles with Inter and Juventus and the Premier League with Chelsea.
“Antonio is a top coach, a leader,” said Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis. “I am sure he will start the necessary rebuilding after our recent cycle that led us to win the league title last year after many seasons at the top of Italian soccer.”
Napoli had three managers last season after Luciano Spalletti left for the Italy job. Rudi Garcia replaced him but was sacked after four months.
Former coach Walter Mazzarri returned but left after three months. Slovakia’s Francesco Calzona then managed the team for the remainder of the season.
