A 48-year-old Point-of-Sale operator named Fatai Kehinde, commonly known as Faity, on Friday night was brutally murdered by suspected cultists under the Kuto bridge in Abeokuta.
Faity, the son of the Baale of Kuto Community, was attacked by his assailants who pursued him from his shop in Kuto market to the bridge.
The murder follows a similar incident that occurred about four days earlier, where a young man, reportedly a barber, was killed at Isale Oja Kuto.
Sources suggested that the same cult group may be responsible for both killings, as the same SUV was used in both attacks.
Faity was laid to rest on Saturday around 2 pm. A reliable source from the Kuto community mentioned that the attack happened around 11 pm.
The source detailed, “Faity, who was about to close his PoS shop for the day, was approached by one of the attackers pretending to be a customer. When the other masked assailants arrived, they shot at him, but the shot missed. Faity tried to flee but was eventually caught under the Kuto bridge and killed.”
The Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, confirmed the tragic incidents and stated, “The Command is aware of the two incidents, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend those responsible for the killings.”
