President of the Dangote Group and Chancellor of Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil, Kano, Aliko Dangote, has committed to several significant initiatives aimed at enhancing educational development at the institution.
According to The PUNCH, this pledge follows his recent contribution of N100 million to the Kano Electricity Distribution Company to restore electricity to the university.
In a statement by Vice Chancellor Prof. Musa Yakasai, Aliko Dangote’s commitments were made in response to a formal request from the university management during a visit to his Lagos office.
The Chancellor pledged to construct a new Senate Building, three additional hostel blocks for students, and 10 senior academic staff accommodations.
Additionally, Dangote plans to upgrade the university’s water treatment plant to address water supply challenges and will sponsor the university’s 5th convocation ceremony.
He also reiterated his commitment to providing a sustainable energy solution for the university and offering official vehicles to Principal Officers.
Prof. Yakasai emphasized the significance of Dangote’s contributions, expressing gratitude on behalf of the university, the State Government, and the people of Kano State.
He highlighted the immediate impact of Dangote’s support in facilitating the reconnection of electricity to the university through the Aliko Dangote Foundation.
“The Principal Officers of Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil, led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Musa Tukur Yakasai, visited Chancellor Alhaji Aliko Dangote in Lagos on July 10, 2024,” the statement read. The visit aimed to convey appreciation and address critical university issues with the Chancellor’s support.
“We deeply appreciate Chancellor Alhaji (Dr) Aliko Dangote GCON, President of the Dangote Group, for his significant intervention,” Prof. Yakasai concluded.
