Eight Nigerian singers have been shortlisted for the 26th edition of Best African Music Act at the 2024 MOBO Awards which is billed to hold at Utilita Arena Sheffield in Sheffield, United Kingdom.
The award which is taking place on February 7 has Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, Asake, Rema, Ayra Starr, and Adekunle Gold.
A Nigerian gospel singer Limoblaze also made it on the list as he was nominated in the Best Gospel Act category. He will contest the category with Annatoria, Guvna B, Triple O, and others.
Organizers of the MOBO Award, an annual celebration recognising excellence in music have announced that the 26th edition of the event would take place on February 7, 2024.
Also nominated in the category are South African duo Tyla and Uncle Waffles and Cameroon’s Libianca.
It was learnt that the it was first time since 2017, no Nigerian artist had been nominated in the Best International Act category.
The nominees in the category this year include Drake, Nicki Minaj, Sexxy Red, Ice Spice, Doja Cat, Latto, SZA, and others.
Another Nigerian, P2J, was nominated in the Best Producer category. He faces competition from Steel Banglez, Kyle Evans, M1onTheBeat, and others.
