Nigerian international act, David Adeleke, popularly referred to as Davido, has removed the highly controversial music video of his signee, Logos Olori, due to significant negative criticism.
The video, posted on Saturday, depicted men wearing white jalabia and caps, dancing in front of a mosque for a duration of 45 seconds. Olori occupied a speaker affixed to the building’s rooftop.
The inclusion of the word “Alhamdulillah” by the singer, along with other factors, was met with disapproval from certain fans, particularly among the Muslim community, who expressed their condemnation.
Davido posted the video on Instagram with the caption, “Allow me to re-introduce Logos Olori with his new single, ’Jaye Lo.’ Let us run it up one time! Let’s take over the world. DMW.”
Davido faced criticism from numerous Muslims on social media following the sharing of a video on his Twitter account.
The singer was accused of blending religious rites and rituals with song and dance, thereby showing disrespect towards Islam.
Davido succumbed to pressure and deleted the video after two days of receiving criticism. Despite his silence and absence of formal apologies, he ultimately took action.
On Monday, it was observed that the contentious video on the singer’s page had been removed.
