Six policemen who were killed in Ughelli, Delta State, in March were posthumously honoured at an award and commendation ceremony held in Abuja on Monday.
The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed this in a post on his X handle on Tuesday.
Adejobi also revealed that the families of the fallen officers were paid their entitlements and that they received donations from various government officials at the event.
Sharing pictures from the event on his X account on Tuesday, the FPRO wrote, “Our six policemen that were killed in Ughelli, Delta State, in February 2024, were honoured posthumously at the award and Commendation Ceremony in Abuja on Monday, and their families received the payment of their entitlements at the event.
“We commend the IGP for his good heart and spontaneous response to the plight of their families.
“We also appreciate the Governor of Kano State for his donation of N20m. Also, the Senate President donated the sum of N6m, and the Senate, the sum of N20m.
“We commend others who have shown interest in supporting the families of our fallen heroes. May God bless you all. May the souls of our fallen heroes rest in peace.”
It would be recalled that March that the Nigeria Police Force confirmed the deaths of six officers and six others while investigating the disappearance of three of their colleagues in Delta State.
