Danish authorities announced on Wednesday, October 2, that they were investigating two explosions that occurred near the Israeli embassy in Copenhagen.
The blasts, which took place overnight in close proximity to the embassy, did not result in any injuries, according to police spokesperson Jakob Hansen.
“No one was harmed, and we are currently conducting an initial investigation at the site,” the police shared on the social media platform X.
Hansen added, “It is still too early to determine whether there is a connection between the explosions and the Israeli embassy.”
Israel’s ambassador to Denmark, David Akov, expressed his dismay over the incident, stating on X: “Shocked by the appalling incident near the embassy a few hours ago. We have full confidence in the Danish authorities and the police in their investigation.”
The Israeli embassy is located in the upscale neighborhood of Hellerup, north of central Copenhagen, where it is situated alongside other diplomatic missions, including those of Iran, Thailand, Turkey, and Romania.
These blasts occurred at a time of heightened tension in the Middle East. A missile barrage had recently been launched by Iran towards Israeli territory, prompting Israel to issue a stern warning that Iran would “pay” for the aggression.
