Inspector General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun has admonished police officers to be professional and desist from all forms of corrupt practices and human rights abuses.
Kano State Police Commissioner, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel, gave the warning in a lecture organized for officers and men of the departments of operation and criminal investigation of the state command on Wednesday.
He pointed out that the lecture was in accordance with the directives of the IGP to all police commands and formations to implement the Inspector-General of Police Zero Tolerance Policy on all forms of Human Rights Abuses, Corrupt Practices, Inappropriate Behavior of Police Officers on Highways.
Gumel noted that the police officers must be professional, civil to members of the public, and diligent in investigation and prosecution.
“You must be professional, civil to members of the public, diligent in investigation and prosecution, avoid all forms of corruption, and respect the fundamental rights of citizens while conducting investigations,” he said.
The Kano police boss laude the officers for their efforts in combating crimes while calling on them to continue to be committed in discharging their duties.
