The President of the Niger Republic, Mohamed Bazoum, who has been detained since being ousted by members of his guard last month, was seen by his doctor Saturday.
According to the Agency France Presse, this was disclosed by his entourage amid mounting concern.
The president “had a visit by his doctor today”, a member of his entourage told AFP, adding the physician had also brought food for Bazoum, his wife, and his son, who are being held with him.
On July 26, 2023, a coup d’état occurred in Niger when the country’s presidential guard detained president Mohamed Bazoum and presidential guard commander general Abdourahamane Tchiani proclaimed himself the leader of a new military junta.
