A crude oil explosion in Rumuekpe commumity in Emuoha Local Government Area of Rivers State, has led to the death of dozens on Friday.
According to The PUNCH, the incident happened at around two in the morning on Friday when one of the vehicles carrying oil caught fire as it tried to find an illegal processing facility nearby.
An environmentalist and executive director of the Youths and Environmental Advocacy Center, Fyneface Dumnamene, who confirmed the occurrence, claimed that its “Crude oil leak alarm response system” alerted him of the incident.
The explosion has also been confirmed by the Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko.
He said,” The Divisional Police Officer in is already on his was to the scene.”
