Former Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN), has filed a petition to the Inspector General of Police against the News Merchants that reportedly claimed he was writing judgements for the judges of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.
Recall that, Fashola had been in the news recently for allegedly writing the judgement favorable to his party and Principal, the All Progressive Congress and President Bola Tinubu respectively.
The PEPT had in July closed all cases concerning the Presidential Election held on February 25, 2023, and was set to deliver judgement soon. With tensions raised over the possible outcome of the tribunal, various reports had gone out.
Fashola, who would have none of that, on Monday, August 7, filed a petition against the trio who were perpetrators of the now debunked reports: Jackson Ude, Yoruba Sheikh and Reportera.ng.
The petition was titled: “RE: FALSE ALLEGATION AND CYBERSTALKING OF MR. BABATUNDE R. FASHOLA, SAN, CON BY THE TRIO OF JACKSON UDE. YORUBA SHEIKH, AND REPORTERA.NG”.
It read in part, “We are Solicitors to His Excellency, Mr. Babatunde R. FASHOLA, SAN, CON, the immediate past Honourable Minister of Works and Housing (Our Client), and we have his instructions to interface with you in respect of the above-captioned matter.
“The attention of our Client has been drawn to a tweet published on – Wednesday, 2 August 2023 on microblogging site, X [formerly known as Twiner] by one Jackson Ude tweeting under the handle of @jacksonpbn with the headline EXPOSED: FASHOLA IS WRITING PEPT JUDGEMENT FOR JUDGES.
“The said Jackson Ude went on to publish and state that: “Former Lagos Governor and former Minister for Works, Babatunde Fashola and some APC lawyers are allegedly writing the judgment Bola Tinabu and APC intend to hand over to the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal, PEPT, to adopt.
“Fashola who is alleged to have supervised the rigging of the 2023 Presidential election in favour of Tinubu, was also alleged to have written the judgment for Judges in the 2019 election Tribunal that wealed Mohammadu Buhari Presidential election victory.”
This is coming in the midst of other wrongly accused persons who have taken to the court to declare their innocence.
Recently, Nollywood actress, Eniola Badmus, arrested an Instagram blogger for defaming her character, as the latter reported that the actress was a pimp to politicians.
Eniola Badmus arrested the blogger, after she was arraigned and sentenced to three years imprisonment.
