Billionaire Chief Executive Officer of Twitter, Elon Musk, has overtaken a former president of the United States, Barak Obama, on Twitter, as the most followed celebrity on the social media platform.
Having a total of 133,072,641 followers as of Thursday morning, Musk became the celebrity with the most followers, while Obama had 133,043,284 followers to come second.
Following closely behind Obama and Musk is Canadian musician, Justin Bieber, the third most-followed individual on Twitter, with 113,307,820 followers.
A Twitter audit report from traffic analysis and audit website, Speakrj, revealed that Musk’s account was created on June 2, 2009, while Barack Obama’s account was created on March 5, 2007.
Other individuals with the most followers include Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Cristiano Ronaldo, Donald J. Trump, and Lady Gaga.
Apparently, Musk’s acquisition of Twitter has contributed to the growth of his followers on the platform.
His popularity on the platform soared in June 2022 when news filtered in that the billionaire businessman had set his sights on buying over Twitter.
During the period, Musk crossed the 100 million follower mark on Twitter thus becoming the sixth person on the platform to reach a nine-digit follower count.
