The Department of State Services on Saturday confirmed that Mr Godwin Emefiele, the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria is now in its custody.
This was contained in a statement by the spokesperson of the secret agency, Peter Afunanya.
The statement said the ex-CBN governor is in their custody for some investigative reasons.
The statement reads” The Department of State Services (DSS) hereby confirms that Mr Godwin Emefiele, the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is now in its custody for some investigative reasons.
“The public, particularly the Media, is enjoined to apply utmost caution in the reportage and narratives concerning this.”
In a video obtained by PUNCH METRO, Emefiele was seen with officials of the DSS being whisked out of an hilux vehicle.
It was observed that one of the DSS agent following Emefiele was with an handcuff as he was led to a waiting plane.
The PUNCH METRO had earlier reported that the DSS denied that the ex-CBN governor was not in their custody.
The agency simply wrote on its official Twitter handle “Currently, Emefiele is not with the DSS.”
