A two-storey building on 7, Chiene Street, Achara Layout, Enugu, caught fire on Monday morning, with valuable properties destroyed.
According to reports gathered, no life was lost, as men of the fire service were prompt in attending to the inferno.
The fire reportedly affected the last floor of the building with it’s paraphernalia, however, the firefighters arrived just in time to avoid any further spread.
The leader of the Enugu fire Service team, Chukwuma Ugwuaneke, recounting the scenario, explained that they were able to rapidly respond to the distress call which enabled them to further salvage what they could.
He said, “We got a distress emergency call from residents of this area this morning alerting us that there was a fire outbreak at No 7 Chiene street.
“On receiving the call, we immediately mobilised our men and fire engine to the scene. And we thank God that we were able to control and extinguished the fire at the point we met it.”
