Everton have parted ways with manager Sean Dyche after a difficult stretch of results, securing just one win in their last 11 matches, which has left them only one point clear of the Premier League relegation zone.
A statement from the club, shared by Sky Sports on Thursday, confirmed the news and mentioned that former player Leighton Baines and captain Seamus Coleman will step in to manage the team for their FA Cup match against Peterborough later that evening.
Currently sitting 16th in the Premier League, Everton’s struggles were evident in their recent 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday, where they failed to register a single shot on target— marking their eighth loss in the league this season.
Furthermore, Everton has not scored in eight of their past 10 fixtures.
Dyche, 53, was appointed as manager in January 2023 and played a pivotal role in securing Premier League survival, including a crucial final-day win over Bournemouth.
He also guided Everton through a challenging season in 2024, maintaining their top-flight status despite an eight-point deduction for breaches of the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules.
