Former Big Brother Naija star, Uriel Oputa, has expressed her heartfelt desire to adopt a baby girl who was recently found abandoned by a riverside in Kogi State.
The infant was reportedly discovered by a local community leader in the Ajaokuta area, close to the Niger Bridge.
According to Omera Ugbede Opaluwa, a resident who shared a video of the incident, the baby was crying when she was found, alongside some baby clothes, a wrapper, and a few other items left at the scene.
The community leader assured that the Local Government authorities would be informed, and in the meantime, the baby would be cared for by the community while efforts are made to trace her mother.
Uriel, reacting emotionally in the comments section of a blog that posted the video, offered to adopt the child.
“Please let me have her. She will never go hungry,” she wrote, pledging to provide the child with love and proper care if given the chance.
Although it’s not yet confirmed if Uriel has initiated formal steps with the authorities regarding the adoption, her public declaration has drawn praise and attention.
Uriel has previously opened up about her personal health struggles. In 2023, she revealed she had battled amenorrhea, the absence of menstruation, for four years, describing it as “the lowest point” in her life.
The 36-year-old singer shared that doctors once told her she might never be able to have a child.
