A former Minister of Education, Obiageli Ezekwesili has responded to the government order on the removal of ‘All Eyes on the Judiciary’ billboards nationwide.
In a post on her social media platform on Wednesday, Ezekwesili argued that the Nigerian Judiciary constitutionally owes citizens absolute judicial independence, transparency and integrity.
Tthe Federal Government had ordered the removal of the billboards of “All Eyes on the Judiciary” nationwide, after it claimed that it would pitch the people against the judiciary.
The government also dissolved the Adveetising Standard Panel secretariat over its approval of the ‘All Eyes on The Judiciary’ advert.
A statement issued on Tuesday by the Director-General of the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria, Dr. Olalekan Fadolepo, described the advert as insensitive.
The former Minister of Education, however, claimed in social media that the digital billboard is cheaper than the one demolished, re-stating the advert in many lines.
Ezekwesili wrote, “A Digital Billboard is so much cheaper than one that an obviously misguided regulator demolished.
“So here’s my message to our Nigerian Judiciary that constitutionally owes citizens absolute judicial independence, transparency and integrity:
#AllEyesOnTheJudiciary.”
