The Federal Capital Territory muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced the disbursement of refunds for services not rendered during the 2023 Hajj exercise.
Speaking to journalists in Abuja on Thursday, the board’s Public Relations Officer, Malam Muhammad Lawal, assured affected pilgrims that their funds remained secure.
“In 2024, under the leadership of Malam Kadiri Edah, a verification committee was set up to oversee the refund process,” Lawal stated.
He explained that the committee had begun verifying documents, including international passports stamped by Saudi Arabian immigration authorities, as well as National Identification Numbers and other relevant paperwork.
“The committee ensures that only the rightful pilgrims submit their documents. No third party is allowed to present papers on behalf of others,” he emphasized.
Lawal disclosed that over 4,000 pilgrims participated in the 2023 Hajj, and out of 2,259 who had submitted their documents, 1,937 had already received their refunds.
The remaining 322 applications are still being processed.
He urged all eligible pilgrims to submit their required documents promptly, as the refund process is still ongoing.
