Five Islamic State West Africa Province commanders and 30 fighters have been arrested in a joint operation launched by the Department of State Services, the National Intelligence Agency, the police and other security agencies.
According to The PUNCH, the terror suspects were captured at their hideouts in various parts of Abuja, Mararaba, and other satellite towns in the Federal Capital Territory.
The arrests were made as tensions in the nation’s capital rose as the well-known Jabi Lake Mall on Thursday closed its doors to patrons and customers due to a security crisis.
The FCT Administration razed shanties on Law School property to curb criminal activity, claiming it was part of security measures.
It would be recalled that the United Kingdom issued a fresh security alert warning British nationals against visiting Abuja and 14 other states.
