The Federal Government has earmarked N6.36 billion for the renovation and rehabilitation of the residential quarters of President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and some of their aides, as detailed in the 2025 Appropriation Bill presented to the National Assembly.
The PUNCH on Sunday reported that this proposal allocates N5.49 billion for the annual maintenance of the Presidential Villa.
The Vice President’s quarters and guest house are set to undergo renovations costing N765 million, while N6.39 million has been earmarked for refurbishing the president’s quarters within the State House.
Additional upgrades include N49 million for the security quarters, auditorium, gymnasium, and residential quarters for presidential aides.
The plan further outlines a N51 million allocation for the renovation of Prescott Barracks, the Maple State House officers’ mess, and the signal office in Asokoro, Abuja.
Budget documents also reveal that N87 million has been set aside for honorarium and sitting allowances for Tinubu, Shettima, and other officials, while N127 million will fund the procurement of SUVs.
Furthermore, N3.66 billion has been reserved for acquiring operational vehicles for the State House, and N1.09 billion will cover the replacement of SUVs.
Under the State House Lagos Liaison Office budget, N14.72 million has been allocated for routine maintenance of Lagos facilities, including Dodan Barracks and the Vice President’s guest houses in Ikoyi. An additional N140.10 million has been earmarked for completing renovations and furnishing the State House annex at Dodan Barracks.
In a notable development, N1.83 billion is planned for converting forfeited properties recovered by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission into State House quarters.
This move coincides with the EFCC’s recent announcement of its largest-ever asset recovery: an estate in Lokogoma District, Abuja.
The estate, occupying 150,500 square meters and comprising 753 units of duplexes and apartments, was seized following a December 2, 2024, ruling by Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie. Situated on Plot 109, Cadastral Zone C09, the estate marks a milestone in the EFCC’s anti-corruption efforts since its establishment in 2003.
