The Nigerian Defence Headquarters has revealed ongoing discussions between the Nigerian government and the European Union regarding the potential extradition of Simon Ekpa, the self-proclaimed Prime Minister of Biafra.
This development comes in response to Ekpa’s recent announcement of December 2, 2024, as the date for both the map presentation and the formal declaration of the Biafra Republic.
Speaking to journalists in Abuja on Tuesday, the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, emphasized that the Nigerian government intends to engage with the Finnish Government through the EU to address the situation appropriately.
“The FG would respond appropriately to the Finnish Government through the EU. On the part of the military, troops would sustain operations against IPOB / ESN,” Buba stated, underscoring the military’s commitment to ongoing operations against the Indigenous People of Biafra and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network
Ekpa, who has been a prominent figure in the Biafra independence movement, recently revealed the map of what he calls the “40 United States of Biafra.”
He described the December 2 date as a significant milestone in the pursuit of Biafra’s independence, stating that the presentation of the map is intended to accelerate the realization of their long-standing goal.
“The Biafra Government is preparing to present the complete map of Biafra on December 2, 2024,” Ekpa declared, signaling his intent to advance the separatist agenda.
The situation continues to evolve as the Nigerian government, in collaboration with international partners, prepares to address the challenge posed by Ekpa’s actions.
