Due to a controversy involving Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa, FIFA has penalised Cristiano Ronaldo’s Saudi Arabian club, Al-Nassr.
The team is no longer allowed to sign any new players until the start of the new Saudi Pro League, according to the world football governing body.
Leicester City is owed money by Al-Nassr for the transfer of Musa, but they have not paid it.
Musa joined the Saudi Arabian Pro League club in 2018 for €16.50 million, shortly after shining at the World Cup in Russia.
The Knights of Naja have paid the transfer fee but have yet to pay the add-ons, despite a judgement by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
Al-Nassr were ordered to pay the Foxes €460,000 in performance-related add-ons, according to Ben Jacobs.
However, the Saudi heavyweights have yet to comply with the CAS verdict, leading FIFA to prohibit them from registering fresh players ahead of the next season.
