Super Eagles interim head coach, Finidi George has applauded defender, Benjamin Tanimu following his impressive performance in the as his side defeated Ghana on Friday.
Finidi praised the defender during post-match press conference.
Tanimu made his debut for the Super Eagles in the 2-1 friendly win at the Grande Stade de Marrakech, Morocco on Friday night.
The Ihefu FC of Tanzania centre-back paired Semi Ajayi and Chidozie Awaziem in defence.
Taminu who had plied his trade at Bendel Insurance put an outstanding performance in the game that could give him another chance to seal his place in the defence line
Tanimu was replaced by Ademola Lookman 11 minutes from time.
Finidi was satisfied with his performance in the game.
“Great. He is a player that I wanted while he was still at Bendel Insurance but it didn’t work out.
“With all the injuries that we had, we had to look for a player that can substitute and it came to my mind to invite him and he’s doing so well in his club in Tanzania, so why not, the coach said.
Speaking further on Tanimu’s performance, Finidi said, “Not bad. Being his first time, it’s not easy wearing those national colours but overall I would give him credit.
“It’s not a bad one for the first time wearing that jersey, to be there, and up and doing, it’s a great thing.”
