A fire has ravaged a storage facility in Oyo town, Oyo State, destroying herbal products valued at several million naira.
The incident, which occurred on Saturday at Olanlokun Junction, Obabi Street, Old Cele area, was confirmed by Yemi Akinyinka, the General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Service.
According to Akinyinka, the fire was reported at 10:39 am, and fire crews arrived on the scene just six minutes later.
“Upon arrival, the firefighters found large piles of local herbs within the premises of a residential building being used as a storage facility. The fire had already engulfed the herbs,” he said.
The fire service swiftly began firefighting operations, successfully preventing the flames from spreading to the main building and nearby structures.
“Thanks to the quick response of our team, properties worth millions of naira were saved,” Akinyinka added.
The firefighting efforts continued for over three hours due to the large volume of herbs stored on the premises.
