The country home of former Kano State Governor, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, located in Mundubawa, was engulfed by fire, causing damage to the sitting rooms of his second wife, Halima Shekarau.
The State Fire Service spokesperson confirmed the incident, stating that they were still at the premises working to extinguish the fire and could not comment further at the moment.
“We are still at the house and you know I cannot comment on anything now because we are still trying to make sure that the fire didn’t spread to other places”, he added.
While the fire is believed to have originated in the kitchen, the exact cause remains undetermined.
Officials from the State Fire Service reportedly faced challenges in extinguishing the fire.
According to a source close to the family, the fire originated from the inner kitchen.
He said, “we thank God the fire only affected one of Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau’s sitting roomm and already the Fire Service officials are working to quench it.”
