A potential fire crisis was successfully prevented at Terminal 1 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, situated in Ikeja, Lagos, on Wednesday morning following an occurrence of smoke.
According to a statement issued by the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Abdullahi Yakubu-Funtua, the occurrence was reported at around 7:50 am.
He stated the smoke’s origin was determined to be the basement of the terminal building.
“Promptly responding to the situation, the dedicated firefighters from the Aerodrome Rescue and Fire Fighting Services (ARFFS) of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport initiated immediate action,” it said.
“Their swift response and professional efforts have successfully brought the situation under control.”
