An Allied Air Cargo aircraft with registration number 5N-JRT suffered a tyre burst and skidded off Runway 22 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Wednesday morning, leading to the temporary closure of the runway.
According to The PUNCH, the aircraft, arriving in Abuja, encountered the incident during landing.
All five persons on board, including crew members, were safely evacuated without injuries.
Emergency officials swiftly took control of the situation, and the passengers were taken to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria clinic for further checks.
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria confirmed the incident in a press release, noting that their emergency response team and accident investigators were at the site.
Efforts to clear the affected runway are underway, with operations expected to resume shortly.
The disruption caused by the incident led to
delays in several departures from the airport.
