In response to the devastating floods that struck some parts of Ondo State on Friday, October 4, 2024, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has issued urgent directives for the evacuation of residents from affected areas and initiated rapid government intervention to prevent further damage.
In a statement released on the official X page of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the governor emphasized the need for immediate action.
“Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has ordered the evacuation of the affected areas and rapid response of the government to halt further damages,” the statement read.
Efforts are already underway to mitigate the impact of the flood, with the deployment of amphibious excavators to critical locations for dredging operations.
The heavy rains caused widespread destruction in parts of the state.
Reports indicate that the flood submerged vehicles, houses, and essential buildings, leading to the loss of property worth millions of naira.
Books, food supplies, important documents, and other valuable items were among the property destroyed, as videos circulating online reveal the extent of the devastation within the university community.
