Ligue 1 club Stade de Reims has made headlines with the unexpected acquisition of Nigerian young talent Amos Ochoche from Abuja-based Sporting Supreme.
The move marks a significant step for Ochoche, who has transitioned from the Nigeria National League to one of Europe’s elite football leagues.
Ochoche, a promising right-back, has signed a two-year contract with Reims, committing to the club until the summer of 2026.
His arrival has sparked considerable excitement and surprise within Nigerian football circles.
The French club announced the signing with enthusiasm, “Amos Ochoche, 18 years old, joins Stade de Reims,” stated the club on their official website.
Offering advice to the young defender, the statement included a noteworthy remark, “I have only one advice for you: Remember where you’re coming from. Steer clear of women. Remember Akinkunmi Amoo.”
Ochoche’s transfer follows the recent move of another Nigerian prospect, Adeshina Ibrahim Ayodele, who has joined French side Lille from the Beyond Limits Football Academy in Ikenne.
At just 18 years old, Ayodele has attracted significant interest from top European clubs, including Belgian giants Anderlecht and Dutch teams.
Ultimately, Lille secured his signature, underscoring their commitment to nurturing emerging talent.
In addition to these developments, Super Eagles-eligible forward Chuba Akpom, currently at Ajax, is reportedly attracting interest from Lille.
Despite only joining Ajax in the summer, Akpom has impressed with 11 goals and three assists in just eight starts.
Lille is said to be considering a move for the striker as they look to bolster their squad in the January transfer window.
