The Federal Road Safety Corps apprehended a driver who had both international and Nigerian licence plates on his car.
The driver and the vehicle, a Volkswagen (Golf 3) with Kano number plate (BBJ746AA) in front and a foreign one (CV 51UMC) in the back, were apprehended within the corps’ Idu operational area in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, after adequate intelligence was gathered by the tactical team.
Following the conclusion of a preliminary inquiry by the Corps Intelligence Unit, the seized Volkswagen and driver were handed over to Life Camp Divisional Police Command, FCT for further questioning and possible prosecution.
The corps in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Bisi Kazeem, on Tuesday, urged the public, especially perpetrators of this criminal act to note that “tactical teams of the Corps have been strategically placed to ensure that all suspects are arrested and their vehicles impounded at sight for onward prosecution.”
The Corps Marshal, Dauda Ali Biu, has issued a directive for a comprehensive enforcement operation across the nation targeting cars that are deemed unstable, unregistered, or incorrectly registered.
According to Kazeem, special operations were being conducted as the patrol teams of the Federal Road Safety Corps remained vigilant in order to apprehend all individuals implicated in the matter.
