Popular Nollywood actress, Bimbo Ademoye, has revealed her desire to play a different character in the newly released movie “Gangs of Lagos” on Amazon Prime Video.
Ademoye portrayed the character of Teni, the daughter of a ganglord who leads a sophisticated and sheltered life.
During a press conference, the actress disclosed that she initially wanted to play the character of Gift, a gangster, which was played by Adesua Etomi-Wellington.
In her words; “When I got the script, I saw a particular character, Gift, breaking bottles. I’m from the hood, from Ebute Metta, and breaking bottles is a norm. The lifestyle is a norm for me, so I thought I was going to be Gift, but then I saw I was playing Teni.
“So I called Osiberu, who co-wrote, co-produced, and directed the film, to make sure she hadn’t made a mistake with the role she assigned me…but Jade responded saying she didn’t want me to play a character many would expect, and instead wanted me to be someone different.
“That kind of touched me because any time she wants to give me a character, she goes beyond something people would expect. That’s how much she believes (in me),” Bimbo Ademoye added.
Ademoye also opened up about her fears while filming the movie in a recent Instagram post. She shared a BTS (Behind the scenes) video and revealed that two scenes nearly made her pass out.
She stated that she is afraid of heights but had to film at the topmost top of one of the highest buildings in Isale Eko, which made her question her existence.
More so, she had to scream out her lungs in one of the scenes which made her lose her voice for five days.
“Two scenes that nearly made me pass out. I’m so scared of heights and we had to film at the topmost top of one of the highest buildings in Isale Eko. So the first slide is exactly how I felt. I questioned my existence that day. After three takes and screaming out my lungs out, I lost my voice for like five days,” Ademoye shared on Instagram.
