Israeli forces conducted overnight operations in the occupied West Bank, resulting in the arrest of hundreds of individuals and the tragic death of two people in the Jalazone refugee camp near Ramallah.
According to Reuters, this was reported by the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
Residents of Jalazone on Monday stated that Israeli forces conducted a comprehensive operation within the camp, involving widespread arrests.
The operation led to clashes between Israeli forces and both armed individuals and local youth who were throwing stones.
The Health Ministry has confirmed that approximately 20 individuals were arrested during this operation. Subsequently, Israeli forces withdrew to the outskirts of the camp. However, the Israeli army has not yet issued an official statement regarding these events.
According to the Palestinian news agency Wafa, overnight operations led to the arrest of at least 120 individuals believed to be Palestinians across the West Bank. Among these arrests, 59 took place in the city of Hebron, including 40 individuals who were workers from the Gaza Strip.
In related news, the European Union’s foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, made an appeal on Monday for expedited aid deliveries to Gaza.
He indicated that the foreign ministers of the EU’s 27 member states would be discussing the possibility of calling for a “humanitarian pause” in the ongoing conflict.
“I think a humanitarian pause is needed to allow the humanitarian support to come in and be distributed, seeing that half of the population of Gaza has been moving from their houses,” Borrell said.
