Ghanaian actor-turned-politician, John Dumelo, has announced the passing of his father, John William Kudzo Anato-Dumelo Snr., at the age of 75.
Dumelo shared the heartbreaking news on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, reflecting on their last moments together and paying a heartfelt tribute to his late father.
He expressed gratitude for the elder Dumelo’s guidance and unwavering support throughout his life.
In an emotional post, Dumelo recounted their final conversation, which revolved around politics, business, farming, and advice for his upcoming swearing-in as a member of parliament.
“Yesterday, you called me several times to come see you,” he wrote. “We sat on the bed and spoke at length about politics, life, farming, and business, and of course, we gossiped. You specifically advised me to serve diligently in government after my swearing-in in three days.”
Dumelo revealed that shortly after leaving his father’s home, he received a call informing him of a medical emergency. Despite rushing back and taking him to the hospital, his father passed away.
“Ten minutes after I left your house, I was called that you were unresponsive. We rushed you to the hospital, but you were gone,” he said. “Thanks for being my father, my best friend, and my number one cheerleader. Say hi to Mum for us all. We will miss you.”
The late John Anato-Dumelo Snr., a respected engineer, leaves behind a legacy of love and mentorship that his son promises to honor in his public service.
