The suspended Chairman of Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State, Mrs Amina Audu, and her driver were on Monday morning abducted by suspected gunmen.
According to The PUNCH, Audu was passing through Naka/Makurdi Road when gunmen ambushed them at Tyolaha Ahume along Naka/Makurdi Road.
A local who did not want his name mentioned told our correspondent that the armed men shot at the moving car which forced the car to a halt and the gunmen instantly whisked them away.
“The incident happened this morning close to Tyolaha Ahume village along Naka/Makurdi Road when gunmen ambushed a moving car and shot at it until it stopped.
“Immediately, the gunmen swooped on a woman and the driver and ran into the bush,” the local said.
Efforts to get the spokesperson for the state police command, SP Catherine Anene, were not successful as she did not take her calls.
She also did not respond to text messages sent to her as of the time of filing this report.
When contacted, the Security Adviser to the State Governor, Joseph Har, said “I don’t have details, you can call the PPRO.”
