Gunmen suspected to be terrorists on Sunday night, killed five people while at least twelve others were injured in Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State.
It was gathered that five residents were also abducted during the attack which occurred around 10 pm.
Some of the residents disclosed that the terrorists stormed the town in numbers and began to shoot sporadically.
The residents who preferred anonymity stated further that the terrorists initially attacked from the outskirts due to the presence of security operatives and vigilantes in the town but gradually moved inside where they intensified the attack.
One of the residents said, “The casualties would have been more if not for the efforts of the security operatives and the Vigilante.”
They said it was generally calm on Monday morning while security operatives and vigilantes were on patrol there.
When contacted the Spokesman for the state police command, Abubakar Aliyu confirmed the development.
He said, “The incident occurred at 10 p.m. We have already commenced investigation while our men are on top of the situation there.”
