In his trial against publisher Mirror Group Newspapers, Prince Harry has just arrived at the High Court in the heart of London.
According to the BBC, he will be testifying in court for the first time today and will be the first senior member of the Royal Family to do so in modern times.
In a lawsuit against the publisher, Mirror Group Newspapers, Prince Harry and three other defendants claimed that information about them had been improperly collected to support stories.
They claimed journalists from the Daily Mirror, Sunday Mirror, and The People took advantage of a security flaw during this illegal meeting to listen to their voicemails and hear messages from friends and relatives.
Mirror Group Newspapers previously acknowledged that phone hacking had occurred, but claims that it hadn’t in these instances.
This is a test case; if Harry and the other claimants prevail, the judge will use it to determine the amount of damages (damages in dollars) MGN may be required to pay in subsequent cases involving other celebrities.
