The Kebbi State Pilgrims Welfare Board has set December 31, 2024, as the deadline for prospective pilgrims to complete payments for the 2025 Hajj.
The Executive Chairman of the board, Faruku Enabo, made the announcement on Thursday during an interview, urging early payments to facilitate smooth arrangements.
Enabo emphasized that the deadline extension granted by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria provides pilgrims with the opportunity to secure better accommodations, transportation, and essential services.
“We encourage all intending pilgrims to take advantage of this window and make their payments promptly. Early payment ensures proper planning and access to improved facilities,” he stated.
The chairman also revealed that NAHCON has refunded ₦301.56 million to 4,936 pilgrims from Kebbi State who participated in the 2023 Hajj. Each pilgrim is entitled to ₦61,080 as reimbursement for services that were not delivered.
“The funds are already in the board’s account, and we will commence the distribution immediately, as directed by Governor Nasir Idris,” Enabo said.
To ensure transparency, the refund process will involve the chairmen of Kebbi’s 21 local government areas as witnesses, along with the presence of security personnel.
“The local government chairmen will monitor the process closely to ensure that every eligible pilgrim receives their refund. Security agencies will also be on hand to guarantee a seamless exercise,” he assured.
Enabo commended Governor Idris for his steadfast support of the board’s activities.
“The governor has been instrumental in ensuring that we deliver our responsibilities effectively. His commitment has greatly improved our operations and service delivery to the people of Kebbi State,” he added.
The board has advised prospective pilgrims to adhere to the December 31 deadline to avoid last-minute challenges and ensure a smooth Hajj in 2025.
“This deadline is crucial for effective planning. We urge all intending pilgrims to comply promptly to avoid complications,” Enabo stressed.
