Barcelona manager, Hansi Flick, prevented defender Eric Garcia from departing the club during the last transfer window, according to football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Romano, in a tweet via his X account on Thursday, revealed that Flick personally intervened to keep Garcia at Barcelona despite an offer from another club.
“Eric García had an offer from another club, but I told him that I needed him,” Flick was quoted as saying.
Garcia had been close to sealing a move to Serie A side Como, with Barcelona agreeing to a €7 million transfer fee.
Travel arrangements and medical tests were already scheduled, signaling the deal was near completion.
However, Flick stepped in at the last moment, insisting that the Spanish defender remain with the Catalan giants.
This revelation follows Barcelona’s triumph over Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey semi-final on Wednesday.
