The United States Government, through the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, has launched the Accelerating Progress in Pediatrics and PMTCT in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The US Consul General, Will Stevens, said the program was designed to expand the treatment of the Human Immune Deficiency Syndrome among pediatrics, adolescents and pregnant women in the state.
He also emphasized that “existing gaps in identifying pediatric, adolescent, and mother-to-child HIV cases must be closed to ensure everyone has access to life-saving medications.”
He also revealed that the project is part of the US CDC efforts to close existing treatment gaps in the chosen populations and work towards sustained HIV epidemic control in Nigeria.
Also speaking at the event, the Oyo Commissioner for Health Dr. Taiwo Oladipo, appreciated the US Government, US CDC, and implementing partners for their support and called on the people of Oyo state to provide maximum cooperation for successful implementation.
