A Lagos Master of Ceremony, identified as Baba Agba Kaafata, narrated how he was stopped from officiating a wedding ceremony by officials of Deeper Life Bible Church.
In a Facebook post on Saturday, Kaafata stated that the church officials collected the microphone from him before ordering one of their members to continue with the wedding reception.
“That Akward moment when Deeper life church authority took the Mic from me and called in a member of their church to continue as the wedding reception MC. Best man self shock.
“But most of all, I stayed throughout the program and see the next slide, the couple were so happy to have me still.Congratulations and best wishes to the latest sweet couple in town,” he added.
Speaking further in In an interview with Punch Metro, hethe comedian revealed that he was contacted by the couple to anchor the wedding reception but the church officials stopped him because they felt that he was not a member of their church and that the wedding was being anchored outside the doctrines of the church.
“They had requested for my service regarding a unique anchoring of their event. Meanwhile, only part payment was paid with a promise to pay the balance, which I agreed on, and sometimes flexibility is inputed.
“I started my norms and the audience were thrilled to have my kind of person, only for me to start seeing the Pastor approaching me one after the other to follow their printed program of which the couple had instructed me to do away with.
“The whole thing when they said they would have to sing praise and worship at the reception, which was so boring and the countenance on people’s faces told it all.
“However, the chairman of the day who is also a pastor in the church asked for the microphone only for him to say that the program has been hijacked outside Deeper Life way, hence a new Mc is needed and I should stop, so they invited a member who came in and the crowd went in uproar but the pastor stated nothing can be done outside his instruction.”
He also revealed that the development angered the couples, but he had to pacify them to remain calm.
“The groom felt so bad and wanted to take the microphone to vent his anger. I had to beg and called three other adults from his an his wife’s family to calm him.
“Worthy of note is that I am a clean MC, I dont do dirty jokes because I am a Story Telling gospel minister with RCCG DOMINION CATHEDRAL CONTINENT 3 HQRTS LAGOS, and thats why people love to have me, it will be fun filled with no dirty jokes, since i am not a Comedian,” he added.
